	Hazardous Waste Identification Number

Providing a Hazardous Waste Identification Number

Type your hazardous waste identification number (HWID) and click Continue.

A HWID, also known as an EPA ID, is in one of the following formats:

• Twelve characters, beginning with MN,

• Twelve characters, beginning with HWLIC,

• Twelve characters, beginning with WCERT, or

• A string of nine numbers.

HWIDs are permanently assigned to your site, not to you as a business. If your business moves, you must get a new HWID for the new site.

Check your HWID using the MPCA's Search the Hazardous Waste Identification Number database or contact the MPCA Hazardous Waste Program 800-657-3864 or hw-licensing.pca@state.mn.us.
